Since 1909, the ECW (Episcopal Church Women) of St. John's has been a
voice for the women of the parish. Times have changed, and men are now
included in our projects. Income is derived from member dues of $15 a year
and the proceeds from our Christmas Fair - our major fundraiser involving
dozens of volunteers working together. It raises about $12,000 each year
with most of the money contributed to outreach efforts - including St.
John's Day Camp, Episcopal Charities of Long Island and the Community Food
Council. Some funds are used to finance special projects - including needed
repairs or renovations to the Parish House or church. The ECW also holds
a Spring Luncheon, which was begun in 1979 and has continued to be a popular
event, featuring speakers on a wide variety of subjects.
