St. John’s is blessed with a crew of 12 trained Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) licensed by the Diocese of Long Island and 17 Lay ministers at times conduct Morning Prayer services on Sundays and holidays. One or two members of the congregation take LEM training classes each year to maintain a group large enough so that there is always lay participation not only in serving Communion at the church, but also in taking Communion to the homes or elder care facilities of those who request it
