The coffee pot is always on Saturday mornings at St. John's when the Men's Group holds forth in Bleecker Hall. The dozen or so regulars also always keep one chair empty for any newcomer who may happen by. Discussions over the years have focused on the Gospels and a number of contemporary books dealing with church topics. The lively discussion session covers “the whole state of Christ's church” and then some. Most of all, the Men's Group provides fellowship and support as the men face the challenges of life's spiritual journey. Recent outside speakers have included a rabbi, a Muslim leader and women clergy from our own parish. Social events and field trips during the year are expanded to include wives and significant others. The Men's Group cooks and serves the parish's Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and sponsors the Men's and Children's Bake Sale every spring.
