Nearly 20 young people from the congregation alternate service as acolytes at the main 10 a.m. Sunday service and on holidays. Generally they start in the sixth grade and undergo a Saturday training program under a teacher who has served as the head of the acolyte program for the past six years. While most acolytes stop serving when they graduate from high school, it is not unusual to see returning college students home for a weekend or holidays robe up for special occasions or to fill a last-minute vacancy.
